Barren County Participants
in an SLC Business Academy

The Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC) is a local education agency serving 120,000* students, teachers and administrators within our 32 member districts. This consortium proposal includes four of our member schools: Apollo High School (1400* students); Barren County High School (1200* students); Daviess County High School (1600* students); and Ohio County High Schools (1200* students). *Enrollment rounded to the nearest 100.

In this project schools have created career academies and grade-level schools-within-a school in these large high schools, then intertwined multi-layered personalization strategies with the academic initiatives of the Southern Regional Education Board’s High Schools That Work. Activities include the implementation of grade level and career academy schools; establishment of looping Advisor/Advisee programs; elimination of lower-level courses; targeted professional development; various student support initiatives; increase of student co-ops and more.

Our plan is to increase students achievement; decrease gaps in achievement; and increase the number of students attending college/vocational schools after graduation.
